Limo Lunch
Congratulations to Alexia! She was picked to ride in the Limo with the Principal and a few other students. They went to Chilis Restaurant and ate lunch. She said she had a ton of fun!
Walk a Thon 2010
This year we had a great time at the Walk a Thon. The weather was great and the kids had a great time. We were all pretty hot after and most complained of soar legs the next day. We did a great job in raising money for our school. Our class brought in the most money in the 3rd grade. And Alexia was picked to go in the Limo with Mrs. Allan for the Chilis Limo Lunch!
Easter Egg Suprise
Can you find your child? Who is who?
We loved using our water color paint sets to decorate Easter Eggs before Spring Break!
For a Fun Friday art activity we decorated paper Easter eggs. Each student had an egg, and folded it into 3 pieces. They were given 5 minutes to color the first part. After they folded it so no one could see what they had drawn. The eggs were collected and passed around. A 2nd student then decorated the egg in the middle portion. After coloring, the egg was passed one more time. It was fun for the students to open up their paper to see the design. (I'm sorry we didn't take pictures that day.

Capacity- Fill the Gallon
Right now we are learning about different types of measurement. As part of our capacity unit, we played a game called fill the gallon. Students competed against each other to see who could fill up their gallon first. The students loved playing this game and reinforcing what they had learned about capacity.

{Celebrating Multiplication}
We were finally able to have our Multiplication Celebration. (Waiting for our turn with the school card.) Our class did a wonderful job practicing and memorizing their multiplication facts. (Everyone should still be practicing 10 minutes each night!) Each math fact matched up with a item food that makes up an ice cream sundae.
1- Napkin
2- Bowl
3- Spoon
4- Chocolate Ice cream
5- Strawberry Ice cream
6- Whipped Cream
7- Chocolate Syrup
8- Cherry
9- Oreos
10- M&M's
11- Nuts
12- Sprinkles
We ate our ice cream sundaes while watching a movie about multiplication. The students really enjoyed the party and thought it was the best day all year.

Pen Pals
This last month we started a Pen Pal unit with a 3rd grade class in Eagle Mountain, Utah. Mrs. Nelson's class has 27 students. Both classes are very excited to have pen pals and are seeing writing in a new light. It is fun for the students to see writing being a worth while thing.
Along with learning about letters, the students are working on improving their handwriting, and using proper punctuation.
The students in both classes have promised not to exchange addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. At the end of the school year if the students are still writing, parents will be allowed to change that if they would like.
